This article covers how to test email and SMTP connections within Data360 DQ+.
Testing an installation's SMTP connection
During installation, the primary admin account specified within the property files will be added into the system. As part of the installation, this account will go through the standard user registration process and will receive an email in return. At this point, the SMTP connection would be validated depending on the success of the admin account's registration email.
Testing a specific user's email
Email via password reset
If testing a user's email that is not part of SSO, it is also possible to test email by using the "Reset password" button within Admin > Users. Note that this does not actively reset their password, but rather sends an email with a link to reset the password.
If a user is added via SSO, it isn't possible to use the reset password functionality, so the Process Model option below is required.
Email via Process Model
Setting up a test Process Model and leveraging the Notify task node allows for any group of DQ+ users to receive a sample email message. If testing external users, a user with the will need to be added in the Admin > User section and added to a group.
