In this article, we'll go over how to generate a List History in ACR in both Windows and Mainframe.
ACR/Workbench (Windows)
1. In the top menu, select "Run". From there, select "Database Utilities".
2. Once selected, a window will pop up with a variety of options. Select "List History".
3. In the window that pops up, you enter the Job ID for the jobs you want to list history for.
- If you want every job's history, you leave both boxes blank.
- If you want only a single job's history, enter in a Job ID for the "From" box and leave the "Through" box empty.
- If you want to list history for all jobs up until a certain job, enter in a Job ID for the "Through" box and leave the "From" box empty.
You then select the report types for the listed history. We recommend you select "Statistics, index, summary, detail" in case Infogix Support needs the other files, but "Detail" is all you need to generate the List History report so you could select that as well.
NOTE: The screenshot below was taken from ACR/Detail. In ACR/Summary the extra three sections are not there. This is because ACR/Summary does not support multi-level reconciliation.
4. If you see "Return Code 0000" in the bottom-left corner once you hit "OK", you have successfully generated List History in ACR/Workbench. Three reports will now have been created in your install folder for ACR/Workbench:
- UNIHSTD
- UNIHLR
- UNITR
The UNIHLR is the List History Report.
MVS
1. In the top menu, go to "Setup" and select option number 4 "Database utilities".
2. In the window that pops up, select option 1 "Database report utilities".
3. There is a slight difference between ACR/Detail & ACR/Summary, but both have you select the "List histories" option.
ACR/Detail
ACR/Summary
4. In the window that pops up, you can just press F5 to continue. This window is just specifying the JCL you'll be running; it is automatically selected for you.
5. Here, ACR/Detail & ACR/Summary again are different. Like in Workbench, you need to make sure that "detail" is included, so option 1 or option 5 is fine, although we recommend option 1 in case we need the other files that would be generated. The history database to list from is already selected for you, but you can change it if you wish.
In ACR/Detail, you have to specify the keys you want to select history through instead of by job. You can specify partial keys, so if you enter in A in the "Start with:" field and B in the "End at:" field, it will list history for all keys from A to B.
- If you want every key's history, leave all fields blank.
- If you want one key's history, enter it in the "Start with:" field and leave the "End at:" field blank.
- If you specify a partial key in the "End at:" field, it will list history for all keys starting with that partial key.
In ACR/Summary, the way you define what histories to list is roughly the same as you would in ARC/Workbench.
- If you want every job's history, you leave both fields blank.
- If you want only a single job's history, enter the same Job ID in both the "Start at:" and "End with:" fields.
- If you want to list history for all jobs up until a certain job, enter in a Job ID for the "End with:" field and leave the "Start at:" field empty.
6. Once you hit F5, the JCL to run the job will appear. Submit that JCL. If you get a "MAXCC=0000" then you have successfully generated a List History in z/OS. Three reports will now have been created if you check the job that ran with S.H:
- UNIHLR
- UNIDER
- UNITR
The UNIHLR is the List History Report.
A sample output is below. If you're making a List History report for the purposes of performing a REORG into a larger database, note that the "Original estimated number of unique Job IDs" and "Original average number of histories per Job Ids" are the values inputted in the previously used. The value for maximum number of Job Ids may also be used for this purpose.
