In this article, we'll be going through the core parts that data flows through in Data3Sixty DQ+. These core parts are Data Stores, Analyses, Data Views, and Dashboards. For specifics on data storage, please review our How Data Elements are stored in DQ+.
Data Store
Data Stores store data. This is where all data starts in DQ+. You'll grab data from one of various input sources (a database, a file, etc...) and set all fields/field types accordingly here. Most of the time, you need to do something with the data you've just stored...
Analysis
Once you've got your data, you need to do something with it. Analyses are where you transform your data. You can join data from multiple Data Stores, filter out data, perform checks, etc... Once your analysis finishes, you'll then output that data into another Data Store to hold this transformed data...
Data View
Once you have your transformed data (or raw data) from a Data Store, it's time to put that into a Data View. Data Views take data from a Data Store and let you customize how it will be viewed when put into a Dashboard...
Dashboard
Finally, a Dashboard is where everything comes together and is shown via charts, graphs, etc... You can use Filters to further drill down how you want to view the data. Ultimately, all data from Data Stores, Analyses, and Data Views ends up here to be viewed and exported by users...
To summarize, data starts from a Data Store, is either transformed with an Analysis and put into another Data Store or put directly into a Data View, and then the Data View populates the Dashboard.
Here's a small graphic to illustrate the flow of data within Data3Sixty DQ+.
