Perceive 3.6 enhancements include:
Command Line Utility Updates
- Clear Extract: Clear all or specific data extracts.
- Run Report: Two additional parameters, -subject and -msg, have been added so that a subject or a message can be included in an email notification.
All users who have access permission to the report can execute that report using the Run Report command line utility.
New Dashboard Designer
A new web-based dashboard designer allows users to create web responsive dashboards that include new visualizations, reports, Ad Hoc views, filters, and web pages. Users can easily create dashlets with title bars, include formatted text, set advanced properties to customize the look and feel, and apply filters. The new dashboard designer provides the ability to pass parameters to Web Page dashlets. With dashboard hyperlinking, users can now define hyperlink behavior for a chart dashlet, where they can call an internal or external URL or dashlet when a dashlet is clicked.
Dashboards that were created using prior versions of Perceive are marked as legacy dashboards and are not supported in the new dashboard designer. Instead, users can modify and save the legacy dashboards using the legacy dashboard designer.
Custom Visualization
Custom visualization is used to display an SVG image, which is dynamically generated by using JavaScript inside a report. Users can leverage third-party JavaScript libraries. It is a powerful and flexible feature suited for advanced users of Perceive reports. When the report is exported in any other format, PhantomJS, an off-screen application to render web pages, is used to execute the script and extract the SVG image.
Interactive Reports
- Workbook - A report can be created in the form of a Workbook that contains workbook sections, bookmarks, and a Table of Contents.
- Zoom In and Zoom Out - Zoom In (+) and Zoom Out (-) options have been added to make it easier to view displayed reports.
- Search – A report keyword search option has been added to make it easier to find important words in a report.
- Export – The PPTX file format has been added as a new report export option.
New Menu Options in the Reports Interface
A Quick Links option displays the default landing page in the Reports Interface.
For Superusers only, Users and Roles options have been added to the Manage drop-down menu so that users and roles can be managed directly from the Reports Interface.
Dashboard Option in User Preferences
The Dashboard option in the User Preferences screen allows users to set a dashboard as the Reports Interface landing page. If no dashboard is set, the Reports Interface displays the default landing page.
Ad Hoc View Updates
Calculated Measures can now be created in an Ad Hoc view. Spider, Bubble, Dual Pie, and Range charts have been added to the available chart types. New options have also been added in the Properties window.
Enhanced Security at the Report Repository Level
Report Repository permissions on folders and resources determine what users can see and what actions they are allowed to perform in the Repository. Permissions apply when browsing or searching the Repository as well as when using any dialog that accesses the Repository, such as when browsing folders to save a report. Permissions can be set at the role level and the user level. Permissions on the parent folder are inherited by the child folder or resource unless they are explicitly defined in the child folder and resource.
No Access, Execute Only, Read Only, Read + Write, Read + Delete, Read + Write + Delete, and Administer are the various permission types.
Export Options in the Reports Interface
The Export option in the Manage -> Server Settings screen has been enhanced so that users and roles can be selected and exported when exporting resources.
Send Feedback Option in Help Menu
The Send Feedback option has been added to the Help menu so that users can request an enhancement or send other feedback to Infogix about Infogix Perceive.
Clear a Data Entity from the Data Management Interface
A confirmation screen has been added to display the details of records when a user clears all the data extracts from the Data Management Interface.
Recon ID Field in a Reconciliation Data Entity
The ER Recon ID appears in the ID field in the Details tab of the Data Entity screen when creating a new Reconciliation data entity. The ID field is static and cannot be edited.
Data View Folder with a Space in their Name
A Space in the Data View folder in the Report Repository will be replaced with '_' in URI and ID fields.
The 'jsrepositoryupdate' command line utility must be run in the following two scenarios:
- When there are existing Data View folders containing spaces inside the Report Repository after upgrading to Perceive 3.6.
- When there are old Data View folders containing spaces after importing them to Perceive 3.6 Report Repository.
‘jsrepositoryupdate’ will replace spaces with '_' for resource URI and ID fields in a database table and the resource URI in a Report Event. The Application Server must be restarted if there database tables have been updated.
Test Reference Data Connection
A Test button has been added to allow users to test the connection to reference data.
Retain or Remove Trailing Blank Spaces in Text Fields During Data Extraction
A new property, EXTRACT_TRIM_TEXT_FIELD, has been added to specify whether trailing blank spaces will be removed from or retained in text fields during data extraction.
When the property is set to TRUE, trailing blank spaces in text fields will be removed and when set to FALSE, trailing blank spaces in text fields will be retained during data extraction.
Validate the Inbound Username and Password in a Source System
The Source System validates the inbound username and password credentials when testing the connection. It will also display the test results accordingly.
Scheduling Reports in a Clustered Environment
To improve scheduler performance when scheduling multiple reports, the following two properties have been added:
- REPORT_SCHEDULE_MAX_DELAY is used to stagger the scheduled start time of the reports.
- REPORT_SCHEDULE_DURATION is used to remove a report from the scheduling queue.
OWASP Encoder
The Platform now uses the OWASP Encoder to defend against Cross-Site Scripting attacks.
User input is encoded with the OWASP Encoder to prevent the execution of a malicious script.
Embedded Directory: User Access Reports
For embedded directory deployments only, an administrator or a super user can generate a report that shows a list of users that can access the product. The report includes user attributes such as name, email/pager information, Roles, last login, and last password changed information.
Embedded Directory: Audit Logging
For embedded directory deployments only, failed login attempts are now logged in the audit logs. The log message includes timestamp, name of the affected data and system component, and the identity of the user affecting the modification.
Embedded Directory: Password Security and Complexity
Password and Account lockout policies determine the strength of the passwords and control when the accounts are locked out of Infogix products.
Embedded directory users can now configure their site-specific Password Complexity, Maximum password age, Enforce password history, Force password change after first use, and Account lockout policies.
Please see Embedded Directory Properties section in the Infogix Properties Guide for more information.
Event Subscription Management
Infogix products use event subscriptions for internal and cross product communication. The Event Subscription management functionality adds the ability to correct an incorrect remote event configuration. Common errors include an incorrect remote host or port number that prevents the delivery of remote events. For example, an incorrect listener property can prevent Infogix Insight and Infogix Perceive from receiving Infogix Assure events.
Users can now view and update the connection properties when the hostnames are changed, or when the product is deployed on a new host.
Warning: Any changes to event subscription details can result in undesirable product functionality and loss of data. Do not make any changes unless advised by Infogix Customer Support.
