Perceive 1.6 enhancements include:
Export and Import Reports
Reports Repository resources can now be exported and imported using command line utilities. The export and import utilities enable a user to move repository resources. Moving repository resources is useful when migrating to a later version of Infogix Perceive or when moving the repository resources from a test environment to a production environment.
Add Report Event
Release 1.6 added a report event to the Infogix Perceive Data Management interface. A report event enables the user to schedule one or more reports to run from the Reports interface. The report event runs the specified reports based on a schedule or a load finish event.
When a schedule triggers the report event, the reports run based on the Infogix Perceive schedule calendar you select. When a load finish event is the trigger, the reports run when the system determines that data was successfully loaded in the Infogix Perceive internal database. A successful data load can result from an existing extract event or when extracted data is manually loaded.
Manually Run a Report Event or Extract Event
The user can now choose to run a report event or extract event manually instead of waiting for the event trigger. On the toolbar for the report event and extract event there is a Run Now button. When Run Now is clicked, the event runs even if the event is in a disabled state.
Update Report Viewer Role
As part of the feature which added the report writer role, the system-defined report viewer role was updated. In Release 1.6, a report viewer can only run reports and view report outputs. Access to reports and report outputs is based on data view permissions set in the Data Management interface. A report viewer does not have permission to perform tasks in the Data Management interface.
Generate Security Permission Report
There is now a command line utility that generates a report to list the security profile assigned to each definition, the permissions granted by the profile, and the users and groups granted each permission. The report is in CSV format.
Add Report Writer Role
A report writer role has been added to the system-defined groups. A report writer has access to the Reports interface to run reports, view report outputs, create ad hoc reports, and edit the ad hoc reports created by him. Access to reports, report outputs, and data views is based on data view permissions set up in the Data Management interface. A report writer does not have permission to perform tasks in the Data Management interface.
