Heap dumps show the data present in memory at the time the dump was generated. A heap dump contains data from a single node.
If you encounter memory issues, a heap dump may provide Infogix Customer Support with useful information to solve the problem. You can generate a heap dump on demand on a node by node basis. The system performs a heap dump automatically for an out-of-memory condition.
Because heap dumps can be quite large and may contain sensitive data, these are not included when you create a diagnostic package.
Generating a Heap Dump
- Go to the Infogix Admin Console
- Click on Heap Dumps within the left-hand navigation:
Use this screen to generate a heap dump for a specified node.
You can view heap dumps that were previously generated, either manually or automatically as the result of an out-of-memory condition. The system displays the heap dump for all nodes. You can copy a selected heap dump to the server or download a heap dump to your PC.
1 ) Complete the following field, as applicable :
Select a node Select the node for which you want to generate a heap dump. You can generate a heap dump for only one node at a time.
2 ) Click Generate Heap Dump to generate a heap dump for the selected node.
To collect the heap dumps from the servers in the cluster, and move them to the diagnostic directory, click Collect Heap Dump. To copy the heap dump file to a specific location on the server, select the desired heap dump and click Copy Heap Dump. Select the desired heap dump, and click Download to download the heap dump file to your PC.
