The purpose of this article is to compare and contrast the LAE and Analzye servers. It is primarily aimed at users that are migrating from our legacy product, LAE, and it gives an overview of the differences and similarities you can expect to see when you migrate over to the Analyze server.
SIMILARITIES
Users: similar to LAE but Anayze has some additional roles
Groups: similar to LAE
Managing, Viewing, Deleting and Editing Users & Groups: similar to LAE
Authentication: importing and authenticating LDAP & AD users is done in much the same way as LAE. See here for LDAP & AD Integration
Creating and Importing libraries / data flows: this is done in the same manner as LAE - simply click the Import button
DIFFERENCES / NEW FEATURES IN ANALYZE
In Analyze, the Explorer & Logistics Manager no longer exist - instead everything that could be done from those two windows can now be done from the main UI page in Analyze, which looks similar to the LAE Directory.
Help Section: The help documentation is integrated with the product, there are no longer separate PDF documents. You can access the Help by clicking on the " i " in the top right corner of the Directory.
Public Documents and My Documents: The folders panel lists the various documents available in the Directory. Depending on your user role and product edition, the collections that are available to you may vary:
- My Documents - Contains your collection of documents (data flows, library nodes and schedules). On the server product, documents in this workspace are private and cannot be seen by other users on the system.
- Public Documents - Contains documents which are shared across all users on the server product. On the desktop product this workspace can simply be used as a second location to store documents, perhaps those which are used in production.
My Folders & All Folders:
Admins can view My Folders and All Folders. Under My Folders the Public Documents and My Documents sections can be seen. Under All Folders, admins can view not only the Public Documents but also each user's documents, the collection of Data360 nodes and another folder called Data360 Services, which is where you configure the system to send an email in the event of a failed schedule.
Permissions: As an administrator, you can control the permission level of folders and documents in the Directory, granting access to specific users, groups of users or users who are assigned to a specific user role, while restricting access to others. Permissions can be set at folder and document (dataflow) level. See here for more help on permissions.
Schedules: we've made scheduling and chaining a lot easier in Analyze, and from version 3.6.0 onward you can configure an email to be sent in the event of a failed schedule.
You can access Schedules via the Directory:
For more information on scheduling, please visit these sites:
Runs: viewing and managing runs is easier than ever
Scheduling Tutorial / Videos - see section on HOW TO MANAGE AND VIEW SCHEDULED RUNS
You can access Runs via the Directory:
Users and Groups: This is very similar to LAE but we've added some new roles in Analyze and they can all be added / managed from the main Analyze UI page.

User |
This is the base user role and is required for users to sign in to the application and see the Directory. Additional roles are required for a user to be able to perform tasks in the application, therefore a user would generally have the "User" role plus one or more additional roles. For example, an admin user would have the "User" and "Administrator" roles. |
