Selecting the Export Destination Directory in Chrome
Hi,
If you are using the Chrome browser and attempt to export a data flow, the default action of Chrome is to place the exported dataflow file (.lna) in your download directory - which may not be the best place if you want to collate your data flow files.
To overcome this you can configure Chrome to offer you the choice of the destination directory for all file downloads by using the following steps:
Click on the 'Customize and control Google Chrome' button (the three vertical periods to the right of the address bar near the top right corner of the browser window).
Click on the 'Settings' menu item in the pop-up menu.
A new tab opens in the browser showing the settings. Click on the 'Show advanced settings...' link at the bottom of the page.
The advanced setting are now also displayed. Scroll down to the 'Downloads' section and check the 'Ask where to save each file before downloading' check box. Close the Settings tab.
When you now use the Dataverse 'Export...' functionality (or save other files) a 'Save As' dialogue window will be displayed, enabling you to select the destination directory.
Should you no longer want to be prompted for the destination directory, follow the above steps but uncheck the 'Ask where to save each file before downloading' check box.
